1) знать, понимать что к чему, быть себе на уме; видать виды, быть человеком сведущим, бывалым (тж. know how many beans make five, know one's way about (амер. around), know the time of day, know what's o'clock или what's what)

2) (about smth.) быть осведомлённым, сведущим в чём-л., знать толк в чём-л.; ≈ собаку съел на чём-л. (тж. know what's what about smth.)
